GRENADIER COOKING (CULINARY) APPLE TREE-Malus domestica GRENADIER

The Grenadier Apple tree was first recorded in 1862 although the origin is unknown it was awarded a First Class Certificate by the RHS in 1883. This Apple tree produces possibly the earliest of fruits for picking in mid August. The Grenadier is not a particularly attractive fruit, the colouring is a rather boring green and the shape can be lumpy in appearance but once peeled and cooked the flavour of the creamy white pureed flesh is second to none. The Grenadier Apple tree is a compact tree, easy to grow and less vigorous than others making it a good choice for the smaller garden as it does not keep well the fruits can be used straight from the tree.

POLLINATION GROUP 3: Grenadier is partially self fertile but will produce heavier crops if planted with another Apple tree variety from groups 2,3 or 4 (more details)-link to pollination at top of fruit page.

We supply Grenadier as one year old (maiden)-link to plant size guide bare rooted Apple trees grafted onto an MM106 rootstock. This will make an upright spreading vigorous tree with an ultimate height of approximately 10-12ft. It produces heavy crops that are very resistant to scab and canker and is also resistant to mildew. Suitable for growing in the north of Britain.

We recommend using Bone Meal and Rootgrow to give your new Apple tree a good start, these can be found on the left hand menu.Order any mix or combination of fruit trees in same size to qualify for multibuy discounts.
