BLENHEIM ORANGE DUEL PURPOSE (EATING & COOKING) APPLE TREE-Malus domestica BLENHEIM ORANGE

The Blenheim Orange Apple tree as the name indicates was first discovered in the grounds of Blenheim Park in Oxfordshire in the 18th century. The Apple tree was originally named Kempster’s Pippin after the local chap who found it. An application was later made to change the name to Blenheim Orange and after this name change it went on to win the Banksian Silver Medal in 1820. The flattish fruit of the Blenheim Orange Apple tree has an orange flushed golden yellow tinge to its red striped skin. The creamy white flesh has a dry slightly nutty flavour and its crumbly texture makes it ideal for cooking. The Blenheim Orange is ready to pick late September – early October. Given a Garden of Merit Award by the Royal Horticultural Society.

POLLINATION GROUP 3T (Tiploid): Blenheim Orange requires pollination from another two Apple tree varieties from groups 2, 3 or 4 (more details)-link to pollination at top of fruit page.

We supply Blenheim Orange as one year old (maiden)-link to plant size guide, bare rooted Apple trees grafted onto an MM106 rootstock. This will make an upright spreading tree with an ultimate height of 10-12ft. The Blenheim Orange is resistant to mildew and is hardy making it suitable for growing in the north.

We recommend using Bone Meal and Rootgrow to give your new Apple tree a good start, these can be found on the left hand menu.Order any mix or combination of fruit trees in same size to qualify for multibuy discounts.
