IDARED DUAL PURPOSE (EATING & COOKING) APPLE TREE-Malus domestica IDARED

The Idared Apple tree originated in Idaho U.S.A in 1942 where it is commercially popular in North America and parts of Europe and is in fact the most commonly used apple in Austria for making apple strudel. The medium/large fruits of this Apple tree have a flattish round shape with an irregular feel to it. Idared as the name suggests is bright red in colour which improves the longer it is left on the Apple tree. Although the skin is slightly tough the flesh of the Idared is crisp, juicy and sweet which makes it an excellent choice for pies and desserts. It is best picked in mid October but can be left on the tree well into late autumn.

We supply Idared as one year old (maiden)-link to plant size guide bare rooted Apple trees grafted onto an MM106 rootstock. This will make a spreading tree with an ultimate height of approx. 10-12ft. The reasonably heavy crops are scab resistant.
