ELLISONS ORANGE, EATING (DESSERT) APPLE TREE – Malus domestica ELLISONS ORANGE

This truly classic English Apple tree was introduced in the late 19th century in Lincolnshire. Being a derivative of the Cox family the Ellisons Orange also has a strong deep flavour but with an occasional hint of aniseed barely noticeable if eaten straight after picking. The flesh of the Ellisons Orange is soft and juicy with a similarity to the flesh of a pear and this particular variety of Apple tree has an attractive golden red striped skin colour. The intense strong delicious flavour of this Apple tree led to it being awarded the Garden of Merit in the early 1920’s no longer grown commercially the Ellison Orange remains a strong favourite for the garden. Ready for harvesting September-October.

POLLINATION GROUP 4: Ellisons Orange is partially self fertile and therefore requires pollinating with Apple tree varieties from groups 3,4,and 5.(more details)-link to pollination at top of fruit page.

We supply Ellisons Orange as one year old (maiden)-link to plant size guide bare rooted Apple trees grafted onto an MM106 rootstock. This is a moderately vigorous variety of Apple tree and is hardy and resistant to scab and mildew. The Ellisons Orange is a heavy cropper with a particularly attractive blossom growing to a height of approximately 10-12ft.

We recommend using Bone Meal and Rootgrow to give your new Apple tree a good start, these can be found on the left hand menu.Order any mix or combination of fruit trees in same size to qualify for multibuy discounts.
