The Katy Apple tree is an early season variety which was developed in 1947 in Sweden and was brought to the UK in 1966 but is still commercially grown abroad. The very attractive bright crimson colour over the paler green/yellow back ground makes the Katy a particularly pretty fruit and therefore popular with children. The flesh is a pale cream in colour and can be soft in texture it is exceptionally juicy with a hint of strawberry in the flavour all of which is why the fruits of this variety of Apple tree are so appealing to children. The Katy apple is particularly suitable for juicing owing to the soft texture of the flesh and has the added advantage of producing a juice which is a very pretty pale pink in colour.

We supply Katy as one year old (maiden)-link to plant size guide bare rooted Apple trees grafted onto an MM106 rootstock. This is a vigorous upright slightly spreading tree which is canker resistant and grows well in the North as it is hardy to frosts. It is an early picking variety being ready to harvest in early September.
