The Kidds Orange Red is an Apple tree which originates from New Zealand having been bred by an amateur grower by the name of J.H. Kidd around the 1920’s and is considered to be an outstanding fruit with a style most similar to “English” varieties. This Apple tree first came to the UK in 1932 and went on to receive the prestigious RHS Garden of Merit award in 1973. The thinnish skin of the Kidds Orange Red apple is an attractive yellow colour with reddish stripes although the occasional russet patch can give a more mottled appearance. The dense pale yellow flesh of the Kidds Orange Red is quite firm in texture with a sweeter and more aromatic taste than it’s family member the Cox(.-link to Cox self fertile.)
