PIXIE,EATING (DESSERT) APPLE TREE-Malus domestica PIXIE

The Pixie Apple tree originated in England in 1947 although it is a compact fruit it has a wonderful flavour with a parentage thought to have come from either Cox’s Orange Pippin or Sunset-(link to Sunset). The skin of this Apple tree fruit has an attractive orange-red flush which together with the highly aromatic creamy white sweet flesh and its Pixie size makes it a favourite choice for children. It is an easily grown ideal Apple tree for the smaller garden owing to its compact growth and easy habit, removing the fruitlets after the Apple tree has blossomed can ensure larger fruits. Although the Pixie has a delicious flavour when eaten straight from the tree it also has good storing qualities. Later ripening than some it can be picked from Late October.
