A spectacularly showy tree the Nottingham Medlar has beautiful large white flowers with deep green oval leaves which turn a russet colour in autumn followed by the unusual brown fruits which are generally used in jelly making but are a delight when eaten when overripe.

This Medlar tree is one of the most architectural fruit trees making a spectacular addition to any garden. The oval deep green leaves of the Nottingham tree are covered with small hairs and turn an attractive russet colour in autumn. The Nottingham Medlar has large individual white flowers in May followed by the unusual fleshy brown fruits that are ideal for jelly making but are delicious when eaten overripe. As early as the 1500’s Medlar fruits were considered the reserve of Royalty or the rich and famous.!! The fruits of the Nottingham Medlar are best picked in late October-early November to be enjoyed at their best.
The Nottingham Medlar Tree is self fertile and we supply as a one year old (maiden) bare rooted tree on Crataegus rootstock.
