BETH (DESSERT) PEAR TREE-Pyrus communis BETH
The Beth Pear tree is an excellent early cropping variety raised at East Malling Research Station in 1938 by Tydeman but not given the name of Beth until1974. The heavy crops of the Beth Pear tree appear early in the season around August/September and when the tree is at a very young age. The dappled green and brown skin of the Beth becomes pale yellow when ripe, the flesh is creamy white and extremely succulent. The Beth Pear tree is a neat and compact tree making it ideal for the smaller garden.
POLLINATION GROUP3: Beth is a self fertile variety of Pear tree but requires pollinating with another Pear tree variety to ensure heavier crops from groups 2 or 3.
We supply Beth as a one year old (maiden)-link to plant size guide bare rooted Pear tree grafted onto a Quince A/Quince C rootstock. These are suitable for growing as fan shapes or as trees with an approximate ultimate height of 10-12ft.
