CONFERENCE (DESSERT) PEAR TREE-Pyrus communis CONFERENCE
The Conference Pear tree was raised in Sawbridgeworth in 1885 and was presented at the British Pear Conference and thereby given its name. The Conference is a heavy cropping variety which produces masses of pure white blossom in spring. The long pendular shape of the Conference pear is probably the most easily recognised of all the pears. These medium sized yellow green fruits with a brown russet skin have sweet juicy flesh that can be tinged with pink if grown on chalky soil. The compact Conference Pear tree is easy to grow in almost any garden situation and can be kept pruned at a height of 6-8ft. Conference pears are ready to pick October-November
POLLINATION GROUP 2: Conference is a self fertile variety of Pear tree and will produce heavier crops if pollinated with another Pear tree variety from groups 2 or 3.
We supply Conference as a one year old (maiden)-link to plant size guide bare rooted Pear tree grafted onto a Quince A/Quince C rootstock. These are suitable for growing as fan shapes, espalier or as trees with an approximate ultimate height if left unpruned of 10-12ft.
