CZAR PLUM TREE DESSERT (CULINARY) PLUM TREE-Prunus domestica CZAR

Named in 1871 after the visiting Russian Emperor the Czar Plum tree originated when the varieties Prince Englebert and Rivers Early Prolific were crossed by Thomas Rivers. The Czar Plum tree produces large attractive blossoms which result in medium dark purple fruits with yellow flesh that can be sweet to taste if left to fully ripen before picking. If picked slighty early the flavour can be sharp but lends itself to making a good dessert fruit. The Czar is a hardy, versatile and easy to grow variety as it is frost resistant and will tolerate heavy and acidic soils and can be grown in shade. The crops of the Czar are ready to harvest in early August.

POLLINATION: The Czar Plum tree is self fertile and therefore needs no others pollinators.
