OPAL PLUM TREE DESSERT PLUM TREE-Prunus domestica OPAL

The Opal Plum tree was bred in Sweden from the pairing of the Early Favourite and the Oullins Gage-(link to varieties) which takes the best of both to give both flavour and hardiness to the Opal Plum tree. This particularly fine variety of Plum tree produces heavy crops of beautifully sweet small dainty fruits which can be almost rainbow like in colour varying from bright yellow to a dark purple. The Opal Plum is a heavy early cropper which can be harvested from the end of July the Opal Plum also benefits from being planted against a south facing sunny wall which in turn lends itself to being trained into an espalier or fan shape.

POLLINATION: The Opal Plum tree is self fertile and therefore needs no other pollinators but can produce heavier more sustainable crops if planted with other varieties.
