This neat tree with a drooping habit is a reliable early cropping variety that is easy to grow even in shade. The dual purpose fruits are medium sized, have golden yellow flesh in a blueish/purple skin. Harvested in August the firm fruits when picked early become sweeter as they ripen.

RIVERS EARLY PROLIFIC PLUM TREE DESSERT (CULINARY) PLUM TREE-Prunus domestica RIVERS EARLY PROLIFIC
The Rivers Early Prolific Plum tree was raised in Hertfordshire in 1820 and was awarded the RHS First Class Certificate in 1895. The plums of the Rivers Early Prolific are medium sized fruits with a very dark blue almost black skin. The flesh is a sunshine yellow in colour, juicy and although a pleasant sharp taste when picked early if left to ripen it becomes noticeably sweeter, as well as being an excellent dessert plum the Rivers Early Prolific is particularly suited to jam making. The heavy crops are ready for harvesting in early August.
POLLINATION: The River Early Prolific Plum tree is partially self fertile and therefore will produce heavier more sustainable crops if planted with other varieties.
