This classic well recognised hedging plant is so versatile as to be used for innumerable purposes either as an aristocratic well clipped formal hedge, shaped as topiary or because of its dense nature is often used to form traditional mazes. Its versatility also extends to being able to grow in almost any situation from full sun to dense shade.

For dense growth and showy colour in a lower hedge the golden yellow hues of this slower growing variety of yew are stunning if planted in full sun although can tolerate some shade.
