These sturdy reliable low maintenance plants are best in full sun, tolerant of most well drained soils, Pittosporum shrubs are hardy but will struggle in colder areas that regularly freeze with cold winds. Therefore, giving thought to the positioning or the need to give them protection over the winter months should be considered when planting. It makes a great hedging plant for milder locations, making it an excellent choice for coastal gardens. They are best trimmed after flowering in mid spring and can take heavy pruning if required.
