Deschampsia Cespitosa Grasses

Deschampsia cespitosa (Tufted Hair Grass)

Often close to the top of a garden designers wish list, Deschampsia cespitosa readily makes beautiful evergreen hummocks of deep green foliage from which clouds of silvery-purple flower spikes emerge during the Summer months, held on strong arching stems and swaying in the breeze, they are ideal for dried flower arrangements.

A beautiful grass to bring some graceful height into beds and borders, bolder swathes are perfect for softening the edges of buidlings and structures and they can make for an attractive screening plant.

They grow well in any good, well drained fertile soil. Once well established this is a very tough and drought tolerant plant but it pays to keep some moisture in the soil while they get established by applying a generous mulch. Sun or partial shade.
