Miscanthus sinensis Strictus (Zebra Grass)
This dramatic tall Miscanthus has deep green narrow foliage with eyecatching horizontal bands of creamy yellow giving interrest all season. In hot Summers silky red-brown flower spikes are also produced, the handsome clumps of foliage turn to light brown over the Winter when their height and architectural form will continue to bring interest to the garden
A great and interesting back of border plant, Miscanthus Strictus can be used as a tall screen that will move in the breeze. Smaller or larger groups are just the thing to gently soften the harder lines of buildings and they lolok greatwhen mixed with other grasses of different shapes and sizes.
Grows well in conditions of full sun, any well drained soil is suitable.

Miscanthus sinensis Strictus is a deciduous grass, the old foliage should be left over the Winter as this will protect the crown of the plant from inclement weather conditions and will still provide structure and interest, especially on frosty days. Cut them back close to the ground in February or March before the new foliage emerges. The cut stems and foliage is useful as a natural mulch or may be composted.
