Caryopteris Stephi (Caryopteris x clandonensis Stephi)
A super new Caryopteris variety, instead of the usual blue colour Stephi has gorgeous pink and lilac flowers, held in fluffy clusters along and at the ends of the upright branches. The light grey-green foliage is lance shaped and aromatic making a great backdrop for the flowers which are always popular with bees and butterflies. Flowering starts from mid-late summer and continues right through to late autumn giving a long season of interest at a useful time when many other plants in the garden have faded.
Caryopteris Stephi is very easy to grow, at its best in a sunny site they look great nearer the front of a shrub border or in a good sized pot on a sunny patio or seating area. Once well established they are very drought tolerant.
Caryopteris Stephi could also be used as an informal decorative, late flowering hedge. Just plant 3 plants per metre and within just a few seasons you will have a decorative low hedge or tall edging, a lovely feature along a sunny path or patio area. (And needing just one simple hard prune each spring to maintain it).
