Caryopteris Worcester Gold (Caryopteris X clandonensis Worcester Gold)
Like all Caryopteris varieties, Caryopteris Worcester Gold is a versatile shrub that brings (often much needed) late season colour into beds and borders. This variety has the added bonus of colourful golden foliage all summer giving good account of itself long before the flowers beging to open in august. The bright blue flowers appear in fluffy clusters along the branches and at the tips throughout late summer and autumn and contast perfectly with the leaves.
Use Caryopteris Worcester Gold to extend the season in shrub and mixed borders, they are very easy to grow and drought tolerant once well established making them very low maintenance, all that is needed is a hard prune each spring to give them a good tidy up.
Caryopteris Worcester Gold may also be planted as an eyecatching informal late flowering hedge using 3 plants per metre, reaching only 1 metre of so tall (and about as wide), it can make a great feature and needs only a single trim to tidy up each spring.
