Ceanothus shrubs
Evergreen Ceanothus are popular shrubs bringing structure to the garden all year, they produce a spectacular display of flowers but even when out of flower their glossy foliage makes a great backdrop for the flowers and foliage of other garden plants.
The Ceanothus here are only moderately hardy, they certainly dont need to be brought inside in the Winter months but they are best planted in a sheltered sunny situation away from cold and drying winds. All Ceanothus prefer a well drained soil.

Ceanothus shrubs can make an excellent hedge if you have a sheltered garden, plant 2-3 plants per metre and with a little formative trimming (clipping the sides) they should develop relativly quickly to create a dense hedge up to 150cm withing a few years. We have both Spring/early Summer and Autumn flowering varieties to suit your requiremnts. Ceanothus hedges are easy to maintain, usually with a trim after flowering. (Or in early Spring with Autumn flowering types).
