Forsythia X intermedia Mikador

Forsythias have long been one of the early season stars in the garden, their bare branches are clothed in bright yellow flowers during March and April long before most other plants are getting into gear. Forsythia intermedia Mikador is just as floriferous but far more compact making this a perfect shrub for small gardens. Growth is bushy and upright and the number of flowers is exceptional, studded along the length of the stout branches making for an exceptional show of colour early in the season.

This is a great shrub for borders, especially where space is short, or you dont want the height of a regular Forsythia. They make for a great early season pot on a patio or seating area, partial or even moderate shade is not a problem so this is a useful plant for bringing colour into darker corners of the garden. Forsythia also makes a good informal hedge or screen, Forsythia intermedia Mikador is just perfect for a modestly sized one with its bushy self branching habit it can easily be maintained between 80 and 100cm in height.

Forsythia is one of the easiest shrubs to grow, they are hardy, tough and will grow in virtually any soil. Once established they need little attention although hedges and shrubs benefit from a trim immediatly after flowering to tidy them up and encourage the new growth that will bear next years flowers. When planting we recommend adding Rootgrow to give them the best start in your garden.
