Hydrangea Glam Rock (schloss Wackerbath) Hedging
Hydrangea macrophylla Glam Rock (Hydrangea macrophylla Schloss Wackerbath)
A highly unusual and colourful Mophead Hydrangea, the large rounded flowerheads of Glam Rock (also known as Schloss Wackerbath) are predominantly red with blue centres (on acidic soils, pink on alkaline soil) and very eye catching splashes of lime green at the edges. This is a very showy plant with a long flowering season and the flowers change constantly over this period as they mature. Found as a chance seedling on another nursery. This plant will surely make an exciting addition to flower beds or a very unique rounded hedge.
Hydrangea Glam Rock is easy to grow in sun or partial shade, they prefer a rich moisture retaining soil that doesnt dry out too much in Summer, thinnner and lighter soils would benefit from a good amount of organic matter being well mixed in the hole at planting time and these glorious shrubs enjoy a good mulch being applied during Spring to get the best from them, this is especially the case for younger plants. Prune the old flower heads off in spring, reducing the plants back to a strong bud and removing any weak or crossing stems. We recommend adding Rootgrow when planting all Hydrangeas to give them the best start.
