Trachelospermum Pink Showers, commonly referred to as Pink Star Jasmine is an excellent versatile evergreen climber, also superb for ground cover producing masses of the most intoxicatingly scented star like small flowers in mid to late summer. It is a species of flowering plant native to eastern and southeastern Asia. A valuable perfume oil is extracted and used in high end perfumery. In a dilute form, tinctured flowers are much used in Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai incenses.

This is an exquisite and versatile woody climbing evergreen vine with the rich glossy green foliage turning rich hues of bronze and red over the winter months. The abundance of the very attractive starry shaped pale pink flowers with their superlative fragrance, smother the vines in clusters and are a joy in any garden filling the air with their delicious scent.

Pink Star Jasmine is a climber requiring support, perfect for fences, trellis, walls, arbours or other structures including unsightly areas such as an old ugly wall or a bank that little will grow on. It can be grown in a large container as long as there is suitable support to grow up. It is excellent for terraces, patios or under glass but in these circumstances, it does require some cover from the midday sun. A warm summer evening is the perfect time to take a walk through an arbour covered in Pink Star Jasmine or to take a sit in a court yard planted with it, to really appreciate the real beauty of the delightful fragrance wafting out when in bloom, there are few more appealing plants that you could choose!

Trachelospermum Pink Showers is a wonderful fairly hardy plant. Thriving in free draining soil of moderate to high fertility, full sun or dappled shade, as long as it is sheltered from cold drying winds. Fully grown, Star Jasmine can reach anywhere between 1 and 4 meters. Best positioned where full advantage of the heavenly perfume can be appreciated!

Pink Star Jasmine requires little formative pruning and training as it is a self-clinging twining climber. Trim lightly after flowering, tying back any branches to their support to improve the shape of the plant. If necessary, all shoots can be cut back by two thirds encouraging new shoots to break from remaining branches and the base.

Trachelospermum Pink Showers is sold as a potted planted, delivered to you in their pots from our growing beds and as such can be purchased and planted at anytime of year dependant on availability.

When planting out, we always recommend the use of Rootgrow mycorrhizal fungi to aid the root development of the plant and the slow release fertiliser Bonemeal. There is an excellent section on the website “How to plant a hedge” to help guide in the preparation of sites ready for planting. You will also be sent a hard copy of this information with your order.
