Pieris Shrubs

These showy evergreens bring borders alive in spring with a wonderful show of brightly coloured new foliage and panicles of nodding bell shaped flowers resembling those of lily of the valley. They require the same conditions as Camellia and Rhododendrons (moist but well drained lime free soil, or ericaceous compost if grown in containers) and a sheltered spot to prevent the young growth from being damaged by strong winds or late frosts. Best grown in full sun or partial shade.
