Geum ‘Scarlet Tempest’ is perfect for bringing bold colour and movement to mixed borders, cottage gardens and naturalistic planting schemes. Its airy flowering stems rise above surrounding plants, creating a relaxed, informal effect while blending beautifully with Salvias, Nepetas, Hardy Geraniums and Ornamental Grasses. The rich scarlet-red flowers provide a striking contrast against cooler blues and purples, helping to create vibrant combinations that carry interest throughout the summer months.

Easy to grow and reliable, Geum ‘Scarlet Tempest’ thrives in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. It performs best when the soil does not dry out completely during prolonged warm weather. Regular removal of spent flowers will encourage repeat blooming and help maintain a tidy appearance, while established clumps can be divided every few years to maintain vigour and flowering performance.

Geum Scarlet Tempest

Geum ‘Scarlet Tempest’ (Avens)

Recently introduced, Geum ‘Scarlet Tempest’ has become a sought-after perennial for modern garden planting. This outstanding variety produces an abundance of large, semi-double scarlet-red flowers with warm pink and coral tones, held on strong, branching stems above neat clumps of attractive green foliage.

This plant is a sterile hybrid, unable to produce seed so flowering simply continues over an exceptionally long period from late spring through to early autumn, Geum ‘Scarlet Tempest’ provides months of vibrant colour. The nectar-rich flowers are highly attractive to bees and other pollinating insects, making it a valuable addition to wildlife-friendly gardens.
