Salvia ‘Amethyst’ brings structure, colour and movement to mixed borders, cottage gardens and prairie-style plantings. Its graceful flower spikes blend beautifully with Roses, Achilleas, Nepetas, Rudbeckias and Ornamental Grasses, while the soft purple flowers provide a calming contrast to brighter summer colours. The compact, upright habit makes it particularly useful in the middle of borders, where it adds vertical interest without overwhelming neighbouring plants.

Easy to grow and drought tolerant once established, Salvia nemorosa ‘Amethyst’ thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. It performs particularly well in warm, open positions and requires very little maintenance beyond occasional deadheading to prolong flowering. The aromatic foliage is also generally unappealing to rabbits and deer, making it a dependable choice in many garden settings.

Salvia Nemorosa Amethyst

Salvia nemorosa ‘Amethyst’

Salvia nemorosa ‘Amethyst’ is a great choice for sunny garden borders. This elegant perennial produces upright spikes of soft amethyst-purple flowers that rise above neat clumps of aromatic grey-green foliage from early summer onwards. The flower spikes create a long-lasting display of colour and, with regular deadheading, often produce repeat flushes well into late summer. Rich in nectar, the blooms are highly attractive to bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects, making this an excellent addition to wildlife-friendly planting schemes.
