Salvia Nemorosa Caradonna

Salvia Nemorosa Caradonna

It’s no wonder these super plants have an RHS Award of Garden Merit! The wonderful perennial Salvia Nemorosa Caradonna ground cover delivers rich violet-blue flowers on upright dark purple stems above aromatic grey-green foliage, lasting from June through to October. Spectacular planted in groups to create swathes of colour for a long period in your beds and borders, these nectar rich flowers will also delight your bees.

Salvia Nemorosa Caradonna offer a great ground cover option as they will quickly fill out to create a weed suppressing mat. Their long flowering period means the striking spires of blooms complement a range of planting schemes, from cottage style gardens through to more architectural displays. Deadhead them regularly to encourage more blooms and enjoy washes of colour in the garden for months on end.

Salvia Nemorosa Caradonna ground cover are easy to care for and require very little maintenance. They will thrive in fertile, well drained, soil in full sun though will tolerate partial shade. Give them a good soaking of water when planting and getting established, and then you should only need to supplement rainwater during dry spells. If clumps of Salvia become congested, we recommend dividing them every 3-4 years.

As a rough guide when planting Salvia as ground cover – 4 plants per square metre is adequate with a little patience, 6 will give better coverage, and 9-12 will make a weed supressing carpet very quickly.
