Acer Rubrum October Glory Garden Trees

Acer Rubrum October Glory AGM (Red Maple)

The incomparable ruby foliage of Red Maple makes an enviable addition to any garden landscape and is well-deserving of its Award of Garden Merit. Clusters of small crimson spidery flowers are glimpsed among the deep green-lobed leaves in spring attracting pollinators aplenty, followed by trademark winged fruit common to all maples. Its autumn colour is outstanding when leaves turn blood-red before softly falling in winter. Its leafy canopy has an attractive rounded shape and the best leaf colour is achieved by growing Acer rubrum October Glory in a sunny spot.

Acer rubrum October Glory

Happy and hardy in any decent, moist well-drained soil with a little acidity in full sun or partial shade although leaf colour is best in full sunlight. Mostly trouble-free and low-maintenance, Red maple is an imposing feature with vivid autumn foliage ideal ideally suited to sheltered rambling country and suburban gardens. With an upright rounded shape, it proves a deservedly popular choice for larger gardens, parkland and estates. 12m x 8m

Our young potted trees can be planted anytime, ideally in full sun or any decent, moist well-drained slightly acid soil. Avoid planting when the ground is excessively wet or frozen. Remember, trees normally reach their ultimate height and spread within 20-50 years depending on species so give it ample growing room.

An imposing tree that needs little pruning. Trim lightly in February and March if needed, removing any unwanted crossed branches or dead, damaged and diseased stems.
