Bergenia Eroica Ground Cover
Bergenia Eroica (Elephants Ears)
A striking darker flowered cultivar, generous numbers of vivid purple pink flowers held on strong branching red stems above large bronze-green foliage that deepenns in colour almost to red in winter. This is a great low maintenance ground cover plant that will gently increase in size without becoming invasive. A great plant to complement Euphorbia or spring flowers such as Anemones, Galanthos or Crocus. Useful in front of larger plants and shrubs or in a mixed border.
As a rough guide planting Bergenia Eroica as ground cover – 4 plants per square metre is adequate with a little patience, 6 will give better coverage and 9-12 will make a weed supressing carpet very quickly.
