Syringa vulgaris Belle de Nancy as with other lilacs is a hardy shrub preferring sunny sites or perhaps a little shade in reasonable, moist well drained soil. It will grow up to 3 metres so could be used as an informal colourful screen if required. Pruning should be carried out straight after flowering so that the following years buds can set on the old wood.
Syringa shrubs benefit from a generous mulch in early spring.
