Sesleria Heufleriana Grasses
Sesleria heufleriana (Balkan Blue Grass)
We have a soft spot for this little evergreen grass, neat hummocks of blue-green foliage that look good in all seasons. This is one of the earliest grasses to flower (from early Spring onwards), a very unusual purple black at first and then opening to creamy white. Small enough to use in groups in gardens of all sizes.
Sesleria heufleriana is ideal for use at the front of borders, softening the edge of paths, evergreen ground cover and so many more…..we like to dot the odd one in Spring containers, see how many people stop for a second look at the dark coloured flowers!
This is a ‘cool season’ grass, new growth comes mostly in spring and Autumn. They take a break in the heat of summer. Any well drained soil in sun or partial shade.
