Pleached Portugal Laurel is our most popular evergreen species, these tough and easy to grow plants are always in great demand for hedging but really do come into their own when grown as a handsome pleached specimen. Prunus lusitanica ‘Angustifolia’ retains a tidy habit throughout the seasons and will thrive in a wide range of soils with a well-earned reputation for being hardier than the Common or Cherry Laurel. They are more tolerant of wet conditions and are the only Laurel that will grow successfully in chalky soils.
Portuguese Laurels have smaller and darker green leaves than other types, masses of scented white flowers appear in June flowed by red fruits later in the season.
Use our pleached Portugal Laurel trees for high level evergreen screening to regain privacy, to soften or screen nearby structures or to add structure to a formal garden by planting them in avenues or symmetrical groups.
Pleached Portugal Laurel Trees are available as pot grown specimens for delivery all year round, or as root ball stock which is available for delivery during the Winter season of dormancy from late October until April.

Because of the size of our pleached Portugal Laurel trees (they are too tall for any courier delivery service!) all our Pleached Trees are delivered by our own transport, direct to you straight from our nursery. We usually use our own Land Rover and trailer and will always call you to arrange a mutually convenient day first. Delivery is still free for these beautiful trees but as they require a more bespoke approach to delivery and we do need a minimum order of £1500 (ex VAT) to cover our costs. Pleached Portugal Laurel trees are available for delivery to addresses in mainland England and Wales.
