Leylandii (Cupressocyparis Leylandii) is an extremely popular hedging plant, as it grows very quickly. It is often used for blocking unsightly views, to help with noise pollution, as a windbreak or as a garden hedge. We stock a variety of Leylandii here throughout the year, including; Cupressocyparis Leylandii Castlewellan Gold, and Cupressocyparis Leylandii.
Leylandii is part of the conifer range, and is the UK’s fastest growing hedge. It suits most soil conditions, and can act as a natural windbreak if you live in a particularly windy area. It can be very versatile, in that it can be trimmed into any shape, width or height you wish.
Looking after a Leylandii hedge is simple; it is recommended to trim your hedge back to the height you desire at least once a year, otherwise they can quickly grow upwards and can, in extreme cases, become unruly. By keeping your hedge to a reasonable height it means it will be easier for you to keep in control of. The hedge stays evergreen all year round, and if well looked after can last over 150 years.
It is generally recommended to plant each Leylandii plant about two feet apart. If however, you wish for your hedge to grow taller and become more of a windbreak (over eight feet), then plant them around a quarter of the proposed height apart.

Slower growing than green leylandii but with the same growth habit, Cupressocyparis Leylandii Castlewellan Gold has golden yellow foliage becoming bronze green.
A popular choice for anyone wanting a fast growing evergreen. Leylandii Green is a conifer with a dense columnar habit making it excellent for filtering noise and pollution.
