Mixed Native Hedging

Take a look at our great range of convenient hedging mixes to suit all purposes, let us choose the best species in the right proportions – then all you need to do is plant them! . We are proud to say our Mixed Native hedging received a Gardening Which? best buy award.

There is nothing quite like seeing the beauty of the English countryside, and how hedgerows mark the landscape, distinguishing boundaries between fields, woodland and roads. Sadly, there has been a decline in native hedgerows over the past few decades; that’s why we want to help encourage and boost these hedgerows back into life. We have a complete range of different hedgerow mixes to suit your requirements and budget.

Mixed Native hedging plants will grow into a dense, intruder proof hedge, they are also wonderful at providing hedges to meet boundary requirements, are stock proof (except the Thornless mix) and will of course provide for wildlife with shelter and food, giving them the natural habitat they require. All of our hedgerow mixes are great for growing hedges of 120cm and upwards.

We recommend pruning anytime from August onwards, but the ideal time is to prune them is in winter. All of our mixes are available bare-root from November to early April, except for potted plants that can be planted anytime throughout the year. Unfortunately, we cannot accept requests for specific plants to be included in a mix, but we do offer the best native mixes of the highest quality, with a good and varied selection within each mix.

When you come to planting your Mixed Native hedging plants, we recommend single row planting with three plants per metre, or five plants for a staggered double row with 40cm between plants, and the same for a complete double row. For a really dense and fast developing hedge you can use 7 plants per metre in a double row.
