Kordia Cherry Trees will thrive in moist well drained soil in a sunny position and is hardy through the UK. It will achieve a height and spread of 3 – 5 metres ultimately. Cherry trees appreciate good drainage, they also like a generous amount of garden compost or well-rotted farmyard manure added to the planting hole – but do ensure it is well mixed with the surrounding soil. We also recommend adding Rootgrow when planting to give your young tree the best start.
As with all fruit trees, it’s a good idea to keep the immediate area around the base of your Kordia Cherry Tree tree completely clear of weeds and grass for the first few years. A generous mulch of bark chippings or a similar material will help conserve moisture in the first couple of seasons leading to faster establishment and earlier fruiting.
Kordia Cherries are best planted with another variety to achieve the best pollination because the tree is not self fertile – Morello, Stella and Sylvia are all suitable as pollination partners.
These Kordia Cherry trees are grown on ‘Colt’ semi-dwarfing rootstock and sold as a sturdy bare root tree, available in season from November until March – the ideal time for planting.
