Malus Evereste Flowering Crabapple Garden Trees

Malus Evereste AGM (Evereste Crabapple)

Is there any prettier sight than a crab apple in full bloom? Branching Evereste crab apple is one of the best in its class, a confection of pink-flushed spring buds opening to a fragrant, confetti of white sparkling blossom against shiny deep green lobed foliage in May. Bees, butterflies, hoverflies and moths drift between the boughs and small jaunty orange crab apples stud the tree in plenty after the flowers fade. A forager’s heaven, inspiring crab apple sauce for roast pork, jellies and even flavoured spirits including whisky, vodka and gin. Crab apples also act as pollinators for other varieties of neighbouring apple trees. Evereste crab apple has a rounded spreading shape, growing increasingly gnarly and twiggy with age.

We also stock fresh pleached Evereste crabapples here.

Malus Evereste

Happy and hardy in any decent well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade, Crab apple Evereste is tough as nails. Mostly trouble-free and low-maintenance, it offers country-style charm coupled with outstanding scented white blossom in early summer and burnished autumn fruits useful for culinary wizardry. A free-flowering beauty for city, cottage, country and wildlife gardens, it can also be wall-trained into attractive fans or espaliers where space is short.  4-8m x 4-8m

Plant our young potted trees at any time of year. Bare root trees should be planted when dormant between November and April. We supply root ball trees from October – May, the correct season for planting. Avoid planting when the ground is excessively wet or frozen. Remember, trees normally reach their ultimate height and spread within 20-50 years depending on species so give it ample growing room.

An outstanding problem-free deciduous tree that needs little pruning. Our nursery trees have already been shaped when young so require little attention but you can tidy them up in February or March if needed by removing any unwanted crossed branches or dead, damaged or diseased stems.
