Artemesia Silver Queen Ground Cover
Artemesia ludoviciana Silver Queen (Western Mugwort)
Grown for its fine aromatic silvery-white pointed foliage, this is a semi evergreen variety giving some interest even in Winter. A great foil for the bright colours of a herbaceous border where they make excellent ground cover for empty spaces. Insignificant yellow mimosa-like flowers appear in August and September but this plant is primarily grown for its stunning foliage.
Artemesia Silver Queen prefers a sunny well drained site, drought tolerant when established, they fit well in a gravel garden or mediterranean theme.
As a rough guide planting Artemesia Silver Queen as ground cover – 2-3 plants per square metre is adequate with a little patience, 3-5 will give better coverage and 6-8 will make a weed supressing carpet very quickly.
