Crocosmia Masoniorum (Montbretia) dies back to below ground level each year in Autumn, then fresh new growth appears again in Spring.  Plant in full sun or partial shade in a sheltered site with moderately fertile, well-drained soil. They are grown from corms and are naturally clump forming, multiplying regularly. The best time to divide and replant congested clumps is in Spring.  Cover the crown of the plant in Winter with mulch or bark chippings to protect against frost.
