It can be grown in a large container as long as there is suitable support to grow up. It is excellent for terraces, patios or under glass but in these circumstances, it does require some cover from the midday sun. A warm summer evening is the perfect time to take a walk through an arbour covered in Star Jasmine or to take a sit in a court yard planted with it, to really appreciate the real beauty of the delightful fragrance wafting out when in bloom, there are few more appealing plants that you could choose!

Trachelospermum is a wonderful fairly hardy plant. Thriving in free draining soil of moderate to high fertility, full sun or dappled shade, as long as it is sheltered from cold drying winds. Fully grown, Star Jasmine can reach anywhere between 1 and 9 meters. Best positioned where full advantage of the heavenly perfume can be appreciated!

Star Jasmine requires little formative pruning and training as it is a self-clinging twining climber. Trim lightly after flowering, tying back any branches to their support to improve the shape of the plant. If necessary, all shoots can be cut back by two thirds encouraging new shoots to break from remaining branches and the base.

Star Jasmine is sold as a potted planted, delivered to you in their pots from our growing beds and as such can be purchased and planted at anytime of year dependant on availability.

When planting out, we always recommend the use of Rootgrow mycorrhizal fungi to aid the root development of the plant and the slow release fertiliser Bonemeal.
