Escallonia Pink Elle Hedging

Escallonia Pink Elle (Escallonia laevis Pink Elle)

A stunning new Escallonia with flowerheads larger than seen previously on any pink flowered type, more like the flowers of the white Escallonia but in a new colour, and on a more compact plant.

Escallonia Pink elle is a naturally compact and bushy plant, the immaculate evergreen foliage is glossy and dark green, a great backdrop to the prolific, large pink flowers – darker at the edge and paler towards the centre. Flowers are produced at the tips of the upright branches in June and July, often with a second flush in September.

This exciting new shrub has many potential uses in the garden, its dwarf compact habit is well suited to container growing on a terrace or patio, it would be a perfect addition to fill gaps in a shrub border, or a lovely small and compact flowering hedge. We would recommend 3-4 plants per metre (if you are patient you could plant them further apart), when fully grown Escallonia Pink Elle is around 100cm tall.Hedges and shrubs should be gently trimmed after flowering in early Summer, this will encourage new growth and more flowers later the same season. After the plants have finished flowering in September another trim will keep the plants tidy and neat.

Escallonia Pink Elle will grow in any soil type, the only situation to avoid is Winter waterlogging or poor drainage. This is a great plant for seaside gardens and they are well suited to most environments apart from very harsh and cold areas where s sheltered spot would be best.
