A much more unusual variety that is just as prickly, with small cream and green variegated leaves, often with hues of pink during colder spells of weather. White flowers in June develop into colourful orange-red berries later in the season contrasting well against the multicoloured foliage display.
Pyracantha sparkler is smaller than other varieties, growing slowly to 2 metres. This makes a colourful wall shrub or for a splash of year round colour in beds and borders. Pyracantha sparkler is tough and shade tolerant so are useful for cheering up darker corners of the garden too. This would also make an interesting and very prickly security hedge, although it is a slower growing one, so if you need a faster grower do take a look at our other varieties of Pyracantha hedging plants.
Try dotting a few of these amongst ground cover plants if you need to keep unwanted visitors off your plot, effective and colourful security planting!
