Acer palmatum ‘Dissectum’ also known as cut-leaved Japenese Maple is a lovely dwarf Maple with a rounded mushroom or doomed shaped habit. Japanese Maples first arrived in Britain in the early 1800’s, one of over 1,000 cultivars, this particular variety is perfect for smaller gardens, in a rockery garden or for growing in containers.

A delicate specimen, it is superb for using as a focal point in any garden large or small strategically placed to enjoy the seasonal beauty of this shrub. This small slow growing deciduous umbrella like Maple has a bushy habit with its lacy dissected light green leaves turning gorgeous hues of eye-catching gold and orange in autumn. There is also fabulous winter interest with this little cultivar due to its architectural form which can be pruned carefully if required to highlight its beauty.

Maple Dissectum will happily grow in full sun but to be at its best, plant in a partially shaded sheltered position out of strong winds in good moist but well drained soil. Growing very slowly up to a height of just 2 metres, Acer palmatum ‘Dissectum’ will never overwhelm in a garden and it therefore requires little or no pruning, but if pruning is needed, it is best done in late winter or early spring.

Sold as potted plants, these can be bought throughout the year subject to availability. Please call the office if you require any more information or help regarding this shrub or any other, we are always happy to try and help.
