One of a number of native trees that we offer, Field Maple is a great choice for pleaching with its attractive lobed mid green foliage, often with a red tinge to the leaves and stems when young and followed by a long and eyecatching season of golden yellow Autumn colour staying as late as the beginning of December.

These pleached specimens make a great backdrop to bright colours and formal designs in summer but their height and structure will be appreciated long after these other garden plants have faded. They also offer the possibility of a ‘softer’ feeling of formality – being very much native they could look just right where a formal garden borders the wider landscape.

Acer campestre is a tough and hardy plant that will grow in all soils from sand to clay, and they do well in exposed sites too, this is the same species used in almost all of our renowned hedgerow mixes albeit in a far more refined form!

Field Maple Pleached Trees are available as pot grown specimens for delivery all year round, or as root ball stock which is available for delivery during the Winter season of dormancy from late October until April.
