For best results with Cortaderia Selloana, plant them in full sun in fertile, moist, but well drained soil enriched with lots of organic matter, which holds plenty of moisture in spring and summer.  Cut and comb out the last year’s flower stems and dead leaves in late winter or early spring (it is a good idea to wear gloves as protection from the leaf edges which can be sharp).
