Potentilla Primrose Flowers Hedging

This easily recognisable variety of Potentilla – the Primrose Beauty is a very popular choice for gardeners owing to its long flowering period and unusual coloured foliage. Originally hailing from the Northern Hemisphere it can cope extremely well with our climate.

Potentilla Primrose Beauty will grow in reasonably poor but free draining soil. The sunlight yellow flowers with their darker centre appear in late spring and last right through until autumn can cope with full sun and or light shade. The leaves of this hardy plant are a silvery grey on their arching branches giving yet more interest to a bed or border.

This dense deciduous variety can be planted at 3-5 plants per metre and will make a hedge of 100cm in height or 4-6 plants per square metre in borders or in beds to be used as ground cover. They will cope with both chalky and sandy soil and are also relatively disease and pest free.  Trim in autumn to keep the shrub dense and nicely shaped.

Primrose Beauty Potentillas are sold as bare root plants through the winter months of November until end of March when they are dormant. This is a very economical way to purchase plants and should achieve the same result as potted if they are planted in well prepared ground within a few days of being delivered.

Our team of friendly staff will be happy to help should you wish to contact us with any queries relating to the purchasing or planting of these plants.
