These wonderful pleached Evergreen Oak trees provide the opportunity for immediate screening at a higher level!

Native to the eastern Mediterranean, the mighty and handsome Evergreen Oak (Quercus Ilex) has splendid rich dark green leaves that are glossy on top and have a downy underside. Its younger leaves have slightly toothed edges, almost like Holly, these edges smooth and soften as they mature and provide superb year round foliage to create screening at height for your garden. They produce small delicate creamy catkins which when pollinated by the wind will develop into acorns, these are smaller and have a more pointed tip than those of English oaks. Young acorns are green and mature to a dark red-brown before falling.

Pleached Evergreen Oak Trees are a great solution for bringing structure and height to your garden and provide privacy and elegance. Perfect for the more compact garden where square footage at ground level is more restricted, but also wonderfully striking as a feature when planted in the larger garden to line driveways and walkways, or to frame the top of fencing our boundary walls. These trees are ideal if you have a lovely stone wall you do not wish to hide but would still like to have screening around your property or create a backdrop for other plants. Our pleached Evergreen Oak trees will grow in any reasonable garden soil that that is well drained and due to their Mediterranean heritage will fare well in poorer soils and dry areas, they are also highly resistant to sea breezes in coastal areas. They can be affected and suffer in freezing climates so if you live in the far north we would advise opting for our pleached Laurel Portugal instead.

Evergreen Oak pleached trees are best trimmed in late winter or early spring when the chance of frosts has passed.

Pleached Evergreen Oak Trees are available as pot grown specimens for delivery all year round, or as root ball stock which is available for delivery during the Winter season of dormancy from late October until April.

Our Pleached Evergreen Oak trees are all supplied as an espalier shape, meaning the young branches have been trained horizontally in layers on their bamboo frame, these trees make a splendid addition to the garden giving height and year round structure.

When planting all new Pleached Evergreen Oak trees we strongly recommend adding rootgrow to give them the best start in your garden, its also worth adding plenty of good quality compost or well-rotted farmyard manure (well mixed with the soil). Full and easy to follow planting instructions are supplied with all orders including a hard copy for you to have handy.

Because of the size of our Pleached Trees (they are too tall for any courier delivery service!), all are delivered by our own transport, direct to you straight from our nursery. We usually use our own Land Rover and trailer and will always call you to arrange a mutually convenient day first. Delivery is still free for these beautiful trees but as they require a more bespoke approach to delivery and we do need a minimum order of £1500 (ex VAT) to cover our costs.
