One of the few Mock Orange varieties with colourful leaves, Philadelphus coronarius Aureus has bright golden and green foliage giving extra colour after the flowers have passed, right through until Autumn. In May and June the highly fragrant creamy white flowers of this desirable shrub emerge, filling the garden with their scent.
Plant these hardy shrubs anywhere where their prolific scent can be appreciated, close to a seating area or nearer the house if possible. They make good back of border plants and are ideal for for natural/wilder areas of the garden too. All Mock Orange varieties may be used as an informal flowering hedge or screen, with timely pruning or trimming straight after flowering the new growth will ensure a good show of flowers the following year.
Golden Philadelphus shrubs are easy to grow, they are suitable for any soil type that doesnt get waterlogged during wet spells and they do well in sun or partial shade. When planting we recommend adding Rootgrow to the planting holes to give them the very best start.
Our Golden Mock Orange plants are supplied as sturdy 2 year old potted specimens, ready to plant directly into their final positions and should produce their first flowers in the Spring after planting.
