DOYENNE DU COMICE (DESSERT) PEAR TREE-Pyrus communis DOYENNE DU COMICE
A particularly delicious variety the Doyenne du Comice Pear tree was first raised in France in 1849 and brought to the United Kingdom 1858. The large fruit of the Doyenne du Comice has a quite spectacular flavour the rich very juicy flesh is pale yellow in colour and the skin is a pale green aging to yellow with splashes of russet. The Doyenne du Comice flowers late so can be grown in colder areas as it avoids the frosts. The fruits from this Pear tree are best picked when still unripe in November and taken indoors to ripen at a speed determined by how warm they are kept.
POLLINATION GROUP 3: Doyenne du Comice is a self fertile variety of Pear tree and will produce heavier crops if pollinated with another Pear tree variety from groups 2 or 3.
