Leucothoe Scarletta (Leucothoe ‘Zeblid’) Switch Ivy.
The elegant slim leaves are shiney and dark maroon when they first emerge in Spring before turning greener, as the temperature begin to drop later in the season and days shorten the foliage turns to colourful bronze and wine red shades. Small bell shaped flowers emerge on the branches in late Spring.
A great evergreen shrub that looks good and tidy all year, Leucothoe Scarletta requires moist acidic soil in partial shade for best results, they are ideal for bringing some colourful ground cover to a shady border and would grace a shady terrace or seating area if planted in a pot of ericaceous compost. 1.5m x 2m.

Leucothoe Scarletta is a low maintenance shrub needing little attention once established. Pruning is not necessary except to remove the ocassional crossing or diseased branch.
