If you are looking for top quality bare root hedging plants at a real bargain price, and you’re happy for us to choose what goes in the order – then you are on the right page!
Bargain bare roots are offered for sale occasionally to help us manage our stock, we can’t predict when or even if they will be for sale, or for how long – so if you see them marked as being ‘in stock’ below and you’re looking for a real bargain – order them quickly because they sell out fast!
Bargain Bare Roots are by far the cheapest way to buy top quality mixed hedging. We sell them at massive discounts of up to 50%, but you still get the same great plants that you would expect from Hopes Grove Nurseries.
We sell bargain bare roots in three height sizes - 40/60cm (small), 60/100cm (medium) and 100/150cm (large) All height sizes are available in packs of 100, 250, 500 and 1000.
Each pack contains 50% Hawthorn (Quickthorn, Crataegus monogyna, that will ensure the hedge knits together effectively) and 50% in a mix of species that we choose from our bare root range (we won’t include Box, Laurel, Yew, Poplars or Willows). You can’t choose what is or isn’t included in the mixed half of the pack, the only guarantee we give is that you will receive at least 5 different types of plant in this half (they may be in varying proportions), and while it’s likely that larger packs will contain a wider variety of plants, we don’t promise it!
Our packs are suitable for general hedge planting and will grow into an effective barrier within a few seasons. They will also provide a great habitat for all kinds of wildlife including birds. We would recommend planting at a density of 3-7 per metre for 40/60cm plants and 3-5 per metre for the 60/100 and 100/150cm sizes.
Compared to our usual prices for a similar mix of plants purchased individually: Packs of 100 – have a discount of 30% applied. Packs of 250 – have a discount of 35% applied. Packs of 500 – have a discount of 40% applied. Packs of 1000 – have a discount of 50% applied.
We recommend using Rootgrow when planting your new hedge, might we suggest the savings on our bargain bare roots will more than offset the comparatively modest cost of giving your hedge the best start!
