Bare Root Bargain Basement
If you are looking for top quality bare root hedging plants at a real bargain price, and you’re happy for us to choose what goes in the order – then you are on the right page!
Bargain bare root packs are offered for sale at certain times to help us manage our stock, we can’t predict when or even if they will be for sale, or for how long – so if you see them marked as being ‘in stock’ below and you’re looking for a real bargain – order them quickly because they sell out fast!
Bargain Bare Roots are by far the cheapest way to buy top quality mixed garden hedging. We sell them at half the cost of purchasing them as individual species on our website, but you still get the same great plants that you would expect from Hopes Grove Nurseries.
We sell bargain bare roots in four height sizes – 40/60cm (small), 60/90cm (medium), 90/120cm (tall) and 120/150cm (XL)
All height sizes are available in packs of 100, 250, 500 and 1000.
Each pack contains 50% Hawthorn (Quickthorn, Crataegus monogyna, that will ensure the hedge knits together effectively) and 50% in a mix of species that will include some of the following in any combination – Blackthorn, Bird Cherry, Common Alder, Wild Crabapple, Common Dogwood, Hazel, Hornbeam, Field Maple, Mountain Ash (Rowan), Dog Rose, Spindle, Wild Privet, Guelder Rose, Rugosa Roses and Wayfaring Tree.
You can’t choose what is or isn’t included in the mixed half of the pack, the only guarantee we give is that you will receive at least 5 different types of plant in this half (they may be in varying proportions), and while it’s likely that larger packs will contain a wider variety of plants, we cannot guarantee it.
Our packs are ideal for general hedge planting and will grow into an effective barrier within a few seasons. They will also provide a great habitat for all kinds of wildlife including birds. We would recommend planting at a density of 3-7 per metre for 40/60cm plants and 3-5 per metre for all other sizes.
All packs have a discount of 50% compared to buying the same plants individually!
We recommend using Rootgrow when planting your new hedge, might we suggest the savings on our bargain bare roots will more than offset the comparatively modest cost of giving your hedge the best start!
